Course Content

Teaching Practice and Observation
- Observe experienced teachers for 3 hours
- Prepare and teach at least 6 lessons
- Observe up to 12 trainee teaching sessions
Foreign Language Experience
- Brief training in unknown language
- Record in journal reflections on experience
as a learner
Language Awareness (grammar and phonology)
Student Profile
- Meet with an individual student for two sessions to work on rapport-building and error analysis/correction
- A portion of the second session is observed by a trainer
Teaching Techniques
- Covers reading, writing and listening lessons
(+ much more) for all English levels and
age groups
Materials Project (a great asset to your portfolio)
- Two sets of classroom materials made by hand (class handouts, visuals, audio tapes, etc)

Course Trainers
All trainers are approved by TEFL International’s Director of Academics, David Hopkins (also author of the course text book, Smooth Moves). They serve as mentors throughout the course as they instruct you on teaching techniques and offer valuable feedback on your performance during the teaching practice sessions.

Course Validation
TEFL International courses are externally moderated and validated by a Board of Academic Advisors made up of international and regional experts in the field of English Language Teaching. This group of specialists advises TEFL International staff at each teacher training center and monitors the quality of the course.
