Kathmandu Program FAQs
What does the tuition for the program include?
Your fee includes tuition, course materials, certification and moderation fees. Airfares, accommodation and food are not included.
What is an average program day like?
Class-time is generally from 9:00 am to 4:45 pm, with breaks in the morning, lunchtimes, and afternoons. A typical day in the classroom consists of four one and a half hour input sessions. Approximately 6-8 days will be spent preparing for and undertaking your teaching practice sessions.
How many students on average are in the program each month?
The number of students varies from month to month, but the course can accommodate up to 18 trainees.
What are the program’s accommodations like? Where are they located?
The course center will book accommodations for you, but all payments are made directly to the hotel. You can choose a basic or standard option hotel. Each room typically will have single, double, or twin beds, a wardrobe, a small desk, and a private bathroom with shower. Some rooms may have a TV and all rooms have hot water. It will be the responsibility of the trainee to arrange their accommodation before they arrive. Some accommodations are a 15 minute walk to the center and some may be a little further and will be a 30 minute walk.
Who teaches the TEFL Certificate Program?
All of our trainers have postgraduate qualifications in ESL/EFL teaching, as well as many years of experience in the classroom.
What will TEFL International do to help me secure employment?
Absolutely! We guarantee job placement assistance, but please note that TEFL International doesn’t ‘guarantee’ its graduates employment in Nepal as such. The job placement assistance program is an integral part of the course and is available to you for years to come.
In addition, we are now able to offer job placement assistance through our new International Job Placement Database. Once you’ve successfully completed the TEFL course, you may submit your CV/resume to be included in our job database. Schools from all over the Indonesia and the world are able to access the database in their search for teachers, including part-time and full-time positions with competitive wages.
What is a typical teaching position like?
It varies from school to school, but you may be expected to teach a variety of courses and pupils ranging from children to business professionals at all levels, in groups or in private sessions.
Can I return to my own country and teach with my certificate?
Yes, it’s possible to find work in language institutes in particular. Please bear in mind that the requirements for working in ESL or TEFL in many western countries are different and sometimes need graduate education in ESL or TEFL.
What’s the climate like?
Nepal has a huge elevation range and the weather is therefore hugely variable from one area to the next (depending upon its elevation). If you are planning to do any travelling or trekking either before or after your course, we strongly recommend you look into the weather conditions for where you are planning to go before making your arrangements.
How do I enroll in the course?
You must first submit an application to establish your status as a qualified applicant. To do so, please go to the Apply Now tab on this website or click on any of the “Apply Now” links. After your application has been reviewed and accepted, you will need to pay the $500 deposit to secure your place in the training. You may pay the $500 deposit online at www.teflcourse.com/payments/orderform.html by credit card, or you can pay via bank transfer. For wire transfer information, please email Inquire Now. Personal checks and money orders are also accepted if drawn from a US bank. For more information, please email the TEFL Consultant at the email address above.
The remaining balance will not be due until the first day of class if paying by credit card, or 14 days prior to the course start date if paying by other methods.
